One of four in a beautiful plaque quartet highlighting the story of Miss Mary Wellesley, Great-great Granddaughter of the Duke of Wellington, a lady who had a bold vision for the future. Through the sheer love and understanding of trees she was the harbinger of a resilient woodland, known as Hockeridge and Pancake Woods, that not only looked beautiful, with colourful and architectural avenues of trees, but supported wildlife, combated disease and the challenges associated with our changing climate.

Ancient woodland in Buckinghamshire, home to bats, badgers, tawny owls and foxes, helped inspire Roald Dahl to write his classic Fantastic Mr Fox. This plaque inspired by Hockeridge and Pancake Woods, which are also Chiltern woodlands, hides a fox among ferns and a Holly Blue butterfly. Above, a Greenfinch can be seen dazzling its distinctive green plumage and mustard yellow tail in heritage glaze glory. Greenfinches live in woodlands and forest edges so that they can forage in open areas with nearby protection - even if Mr Fox lurks within.

Buying this piece supports the charitable work of the Royal Forestry Society.
