Aysgarth Falls and Snaizeholme – Yorkshire Division

The day begins at Aysgarth to visit an ancient semi-natural coppiced woodland. In the afternoon, we'll discuss woodland creation and the management of existing woodlands at Snaizeholme.

These visits are kindly hosted by Yorkshire Dales National Park and the Woodland Trust.  At Aysgarth Falls Visitor Centre we will discuss the benefits of coppiced woodland for species such as the hazel dormouse.

Snaizeholme is approximatley a 20 minute drive from Aysgarth and presents a stark contrast to the morning’s visit as this unique and complex project is set in an upland environment. We will discuss woodland creation and the management of existing woodlands in the area, focusing on resilient tree species and the promotion of red squirrels in this key stronghold in Yorkshire.  For more information regarding this meeting please contact the local Honorary Secretary, Jim Smith on jimrfsyorkshire@hotmail.com
