Successful Forestry Careers Roadshow at Coleg Glynllifon
Enjoy reading about how the RFS and other organisations are banding together to inspire and motivate the future generations of foresters.
A fantastic day was had by all at the most recent Careers Roadshow organised by the RFS and hosted by Coleg Glynllifon.
On the 13th March, we brought together several organisations to exhibit and deliver workshops showing the students in attendance the vast breadth of what the forestry sector has to offer.
There were workshops where the students could learn all about mensuration with Ashley Hardaker from Bangor University, and they got to watch Ruth Pybus and Harriet Jenkins from Broadleaf Wales in action with chainsaws.
Luckily, there was some short relief from the rain when they got to try their hand at tree harvesting using fantastic simulators supplied by mwmac and the college too.

The RFS are passionate about running days like these to help educate students on all the options available to them within Forestry, that no matter their personal interests there is probably a fulfilling role for them within our sector, and without days like these and them being well supported and attended by forestry organisations it will only get harder to encourage the future generation of forestry sector workers.
"Last week was very beneficial. The feedback I had from one of the local schools was that it was raising awareness for the pupils to be made aware of all the different types of career opportunities that’s available within the Forestry industry."
