Egon Glesinger was instrumental in bringing forestry into the Forestry Division of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO). He was also founder of the Comité International du Bois. His inside information on the role of timber in economics and politics, and his wide technical knowledge, made him well qualified to write this book.
