This year’s George Clive Award was presented to Wilf Rake by RFS President Ben Herbert at the RFS Herefordshire meeting on 9 June at Brockhampton and Perrystone Estate.

The George Clive Award is awarded every year by the Herefordshire Division to the best forestry students at the Holme Lacy campus of Hereford, Ludlow and North Shropshire College as judged by the forestry staff. The award is a Zubat Silky Saw generously donated by James Davenport.

Wilf Rake completed a forestry apprenticeship at the Heart of England Forest and has now secured a permanent role there. Judith Webb, Forestry Lecturer at Holme Lacy said “Wilf was an outstanding student during the whole course – self-motivated to enquire and learn more outside of the formal teaching sessions”.
