For the love of trees: Green Tree Badge reaches 30,000 children
An initiative from the Royal Forestry Society and Bags Of Ethics, Green Tree Badge is an activity book that inspires children to develop a lifelong love for trees and nature.

The Green Tree Badge, a partnership between the Royal Forestry Society and Bags of Ethics has reached a significant milestone, with the first 30,000 children completing the challenge.
This ambitious campaign has reached children and families across the UK through schools and and community groups.
The initiative centres around 24 fun and engaging activities, all contained within a beautiful Activity book, For the love of trees. Each activity develops an understanding and love for trees and nature which will last a lifetime and engender a love of learning and scientific curiosity. When children have completed enough activities, they earn their own Green Tree Badge.
“We are delighted to have reached so many children since we launched the Green Tree Badge campaign,” said Smruti Sriram OBE, Chief Executive of Bags Of Ethics. “Green Tree Badge started as a kernel of an idea following the tree-planting campaign during Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Trees support us in so many ways – from wellbeing, to food, shelter, to cooling our planet, and it is important that our future leaders – children of today – embrace the magical world of trees in a manner of ways.”
“Trees and woods provide so much for us,” said Christopher Williams, Chief Executive of the Royal Forestry Society. “The Green Tree Badge helps children to understand their value and care for trees in return.”

As well as families, schools and groups purchasing their own Green Tree books and packs, nearly 3,000 Activity books have also been donated to schools in socially disadvantaged areas. This is thanks to generous donations and support from Severn Trent, Mulberry, Talking Tables, Hamptons, Nimble, Green the UK, Trainhugger and hundreds of individual donors.
“It’s been a privilege to be part of such a positive campaign, and we are very grateful to our partners and sponsors for their support,” Christopher said.
Supporters and ambassadors for the Green Tree Badge include Dr R. Sri Ram, Sir Kenneth Olisa OBE CStJ FRSA FBCS, HM Lord Lieutenant, Tony Kirkham MBE, VMH, FICFor former Head of the Arboretum at Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, The Hon. Jeremy Soames and several leaders in education, conservation, and forestry.
