Brothers Keith Allison, 62, and Tony Allison, 58, of Fring Hall Estate, Norfolk have been awarded RFS Long Service Awards by RFS President Alison Field.

Fring Hall Estate forester Edward Brun described the brothers as experts in planting trees, weeding, thinning and felling, and extracting large timber. They were also priased for their exceptional skills in fencing and clefting stakes from roundwood. They also have the perseverance to coppice hazel and produce wood products of many different specifications. Both brothers have planted over 185,000 trees between them across Fring Hall’s woodlands over their years of service.

Working as part of the forestry team since leaving school, Keith and Tony worked with their father on the estate and learned many of their skills from him.

Reflecting on the award, Keith Allison said: “A lifetime of working with and around nature has been a wonderful privilege.”

Edward Brun added: “I want to take this opportunity to thank both of them for all that they have done for me and my family over the years, and to thank them for what they have done for our woods too. They are a testament to a life’s work and in years to come they will stand as a memorial to both of them.”
