Assistant Forester
Job Description
The years placement will offer a unique experience working within the Forestry team, in a diverse range of tasks not just within the park and the park woodlands but also over the wider estate.
Main Responsibilities
- Tree planting and ongoing plantation maintenance including chemical and inter-row weeding.
- Fencing: assisting the team with the erection of park post and rail fencing, stock and deer net.
- Park preparation for events: assisting the team with presentation of the park for the various events tasks include mowing, strimming, erection of crowd control fencing.
- Assisting with pest control.
- Tree felling (thinning) and processing of produce.
- Firewood processing.
About You
- A full driving licence at the start of employment.
- An enthusiastic, positive attitude.
- A strong interest in all aspects of tree and woodland management as well as the wider linkage that trees have with ecology and conservation.
Benefits and More Details
Salary – £20,000+ per year.
Hours of work – 39 hours per week.
Holidays – 22 days per year, plus bank holidays and Christmas shut down period.
Term – 1 year fixed term contract with 1 month probationary period.
Support – Up to 20 days paid release to attend fully funded CPD training (To the value of £2,000)
Regular progress reviews with the RFS and employer.
There is access to a £300 relocation grant available upon request from RFS.
Accommodation – A flat or house in the park is available for minimal rent (possibly free) there is £300 relocation grant available upon request from the RFS.
This position is subject to satisfactory references, evidence of the right to work in the UK, pre– employment checks and a contract of employment.
