About Burghley
Burghley is a diverse mixed estate of 4500 ha and is owned by a charity Burghley House Preservation Trust (BHPT). The main land use is arable farming, we also own at least 3 working quarries, 2 lakes, 3 Sites of Special Scientific Interest and one National Nature Reserve.
BHPT owns approximately 400ha of predominantly broadleaved woodland and we are in the middle of formulating an estate wide 10year woodland management plan.
The mature treed landscape within the park provides an attractive venue for hosting many events most notably the Burghley Horse Trials one of the largest and most prestigious sporting events in the world.
