Job Responsibilities

• The production of UKFS compliant woodland management plans utilising the Forestry Commission template.
• GIS mapping to support the above and all woodland management operations.
• Application to the Countryside Stewardship scheme and subsequent management of grant contract monitoring and related claims.
• Knowledge and understanding of the FSC certification scheme.
• To be conversant with current health and safety, regulatory and environmental legislation.
• The preparation and implementation of annual woodland budgets and reports.
• Responsibility for the implementation and delivery of the full range of forest management operations to include both property maintenance , contracting and harvesting works
• Experienced in the planting, establishment and maintenance of young broadleaved and conifer crops on both restock and new planting sites.
• Management of thinning, felling and coppicing operations with the knowledge to undertake detailed timber assessment, marking and measuring.
• The ability to communicate with woodland owners, government representatives and other stakeholders in a professional and confident manner.
• To be able to operate independently with support of the senior woodland manager / company director

Professional Qualifications & Experience 

• A minimum 3 years experience in forest and woodland management
• National diploma or degree in forestry or other land based degree.
• Clean & full driving licence is essential
