Student Placement at RFS Head Office

About the Opportunity

The RFS is offering the opportunity for a student looking for an industry placement to join them from September 2025 – July 2026. The successful candidate will be based at our Head Office in Banbury, Oxfordshire, and will have the opportunity to gain an insight into the work of England, Wales and Northern Ireland’s oldest forestry organisation.

Responsibilities

You will be a member of our Head Office team and will contribute to:

• Answering public and member enquiries
• Assisting with the RFS shop
• Preparation for events
• Website and social media content

There may also be an opportunity for the right candidate to take part in outreach events, community engagement and RFS woodland meetings.

Profile

Essential:

This post is only available for degree students at UK universities looking for a placement as part of their programme. You must be able to work from our Banbury office on a daily basis, this is not available as a remote working position.

• Someone who wants to gain an insight into working for an educational charity
• Reliable team player who is happy to support colleagues in their roles and take initiative when appropriate
• Share our core beliefs as an organisation https://rfs.org.uk/about-us/
• Professional, friendly manner when representing the RFS
• Confident with using Outlook, Word and Excel
• Driving licence and own transport as our office is not accessible by public transport or on foot

Desirable:

• Forestry or related degree such as Environmental Science, Biology or Geography
• Experience with editing web content in WordPress
• Customer service / event experience
