Role Responsibilities
To lead the day-to-day forestry operations and woodland management
To develop and implement management plans in line with the client’s strategies and objectives
To advise estate owners and managers on woodland creation, natural capital, and revenue diversification
To lead woodland establishment projects under EWCO and other Environmental Land Management schemes
To manage regulatory compliance, including grant applications, felling license submissions, and adherence to industry standards
To collaborate closely with estate stakeholders to integrate forestry operations with broader estate activities, including agricultural and recreational uses
To prepare comprehensive financial planning, including budgets, valuations, and timber marketing strategies
To motivate and support the wider team, providing mentorship, advice, and guidance to foster career development
Skills you will need
Essential
A degree in Forestry, Woodland Management, or a related rural land-based subject
Proven experience in forestry management with a strong track record working with private estates and/or landed clients
Comprehensive knowledge of estate management principles, woodland legislation, grant funding mechanisms, and industry standards
Exceptional communication skills and client management at a senior level
Organised, with a strong eye for detail, able to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines
A relationship builder with the capacity to forge and maintain strong business relationships
Strong commercial acumen
Excellent leadership and management skills
Dynamic, growth-oriented, and entrepreneurial
Excellent IT skills and proficient in woodland mapping systems, including QGIS, MyForest, and LandApp
Membership of the Institute of Chartered Foresters (or working towards)
UK driving license
Remuneration
A competitive salary package including a discretionary performance bonus, company vehicle or car allowance.
