About the Job
Applications are invited for a permanent, full-time Lectureship in Forestry in the School of Environmental and Natural Sciences at Bangor University. The successful candidate will be a motivated Lecturer who will contribute to teaching our forestry curriculum at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, run tutorials and field courses, support student project work, and progress into a leadership role in our renowned and long-established MSc Forestry degree programmes. The successful candidate will join an active and enthusiastic forestry/woodland team of 12 core academic staff, who are passionate about quality teaching and pastoral support.
The School of Environmental and Natural Sciences is the UK’s leading centre for forestry education and research. As the UK’s first and largest forestry educator, we’ve been delivering excellence in forestry teaching for over 120 years, being ranked first amongst all UK universities in the “Agriculture and Forestry” subject area in the 2026 Times and Sunday Times UK University Rankings, while also being recognised as the 9th most sustainable university in the UK 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) Impact rankings.
Applicants should have a PhD (or be near to completion) in forestry or a related discipline (e.g. geography, ecology, environmental economics, environmental sciences, conservation), an understanding of the interdisciplinary nature of forestry in the UK and internationally, and an enthusiasm for teaching in the classroom, in the field and online.
This role will be located on campus at Bangor. Through our Dynamic Working framework, there will also be the option to spend some time working remotely (although remaining in the UK) to support work-life balance, which will be discussed further with candidates at interview.
Applications will also be considered to carry out this role on a part-time or job share basis.
The successful candidate will be expected to commence as soon as possible.
