A passion for growing trees

Nick Cooke has combined the roles of Head Forester and Nursery Manager at the Castle Howard Estate in North Yorkshire for the past 19 years. As he retires, he is keen to encourage others to take up similar forestry careers. Growing trees, he says should be a passion.

How volunteering helped me get a job

Hannah Holden left her job in the law sector to devote time to volunteering and gaining practical skills that would lead to a career in forestry. She is now a Forestry Assistant at the Harewood Estate in West Yorkshire after successfully applying to the Royal Forestry Society’s (RFS) Forestry Roots Scheme.
