Join us online for an evening with two of the UK’s top experts in silviculture, Professor Julian Evans OBE and Gary Kerr, Principal Silviculturist for Forest Research.

Whether you are new to woodland management or have been involved for decades, this is an evening for you. There will be plenty of time for audience participation as we talk research, species choice, and much more.

Professor Julian Evans OBE

Professor Julian Evans OBE is a Forestry Commissioner, formerly Professor of Forestry at Imperial College and previously the Forestry Commission’s Chief Research Officer. He is also a past president of the Institute of Chartered Foresters. For more than 30 years he has owned a 30-acre woodland in Hampshire, sharing his knowledge with others.

Gary Kerr

Gary Kerr is Principal Silviculturist for Forest Research. He will be familiar to many RFS members for his articles in the QJF featuring the results of recent research. For the last 10 years his work has focussed on alternative approaches to management and continuous cover silviculture.  He is also the Editor-in-Chief of Forestry: An international Journal of forest research, published by Oxford University Press and Vice Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board of the European Forest Institut
