A one day course for those new to woodland management that seeks to provide, at an introductory level, the issues and operations that can be expected. The course examines what’s involved, looks at access, gates and boundaries, explores setting objectives and enjoying one’s wood, and introduces aspects of silviculture. Researching woodland history, planning for future and an overview of grants and licences are all touched upon.

Participants learn what’s involved caring for woodland, where to find more detailed information, and how to get started.  The grand aim is to enhance informed woodland management, especially for those unfamiliar with forestry.
