or the RFS 2nd National Student Conference, entitled FUTURE FORESTERS SKILLS DAY, hosted by Shuttleworth College at their beautiful parkland college campus.  This event is being generously sponsored by City & Guilds NPTC Fund, Sorbus International and Forestry Commission England.

This year's theme is "Addressing skills gaps in the forestry, arboriculture and countryside sectors" with particular reference to the recently published Forestry Skills Plan 2019 - 2024 (published by the Forestry Skills Forum - click here to see a copy).

In the morning conference session we will hear from four excellent speakers each of whom will give delegates the benefit of their extensive industry experience:

  • Dr Robin Jackson - Industry Manager - City & Guilds
  • Euan Brierley - Associate Forestry Consultant - WSP
  • Tom Williams - Managing Director - Maydencroft (read Tom's blog here)
  • Becki Gawthorpe - Biosecurity Officer - Forestry Commission (read Becki's blog here)

After a buffet lunch and refreshments, the afternoon session will comprise exhibitors and demonstrations by numerous high profile industry players giving delegates the opportunity to get hands-on with kit, ask lots of questions and network!  

EXHIBITORS CONFIRMED - 26 companies will be demonstrating their products and services including:  

John Deere harvesting simulator, Stihl VR chainsaw simulator, Ben Burgess & Co , Sorbus International, ESRI UK, Goodnature Traps UK, Barle Valley Forestry among others.  For a full list of exhiibitors please get in touch!

There is also a fantastic opportunity for your college or university to win £2700 worth of Haglof of Sweden measurement kit (a Haglof Vertex Laser Geo) by entering our photography competition!  Send us a fantastic photo depicting "the application of skills or learning in a woodland environment" no later than Friday 20 September 2019 for a chance of winning this fabulous prize.  Competition rules and an entry form can be found in the green "Resources" box at the top right hand of this page.
