Balcas Sawmill – Northern Ireland Division

A visit to Balcas Ltd, morning tour of the sawmill with a light lunch provided, and then on to J F Irvine Sawmills.

Location – Balcas Ltd, 75 Killadeas Road, Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh, BT94 2ES. Please Park in the designated car park at the entrance into the facility.

10.00-10.15am:                Arrive and park.

10.15-10.45am:                Tea/Coffee on arrival at site.

10.45 – 11.00am              Welcome and introduction.

11.00am – 13.00              Tour of sawmill facility.

13.00 – 14.00                    Lunch (Balcas will be kindly providing a light lunch).

14.00 – 14.30                    Travel to J.F. Irvine Sawmills, 45 Bodoney Road, Trillick, BT78 3SQ (20 minutes)     

14.30                                   Welcome and introduction.

14.30 – 16.30                    Tour of sawmill facility.

16.30                                   Close of meeting.

Hi-viz vests and hard hats shall be provided, but those of you that have your own please bring them with you.

Please be aware of your health and safety always and do not take risks that could put you or

anyone else in danger.  Please do not attempt to do anything that you do not feel confident about. 

Potential hazards will include uneven ground associated with an industrial environment.  As usual,

appropriate safety footwear and clothing should be worn.

In the light of COVID 19, we urge all members to read our COVID 19 guideline notes before attending woodland meetings.  In addition, as an educational charity, the RFS must lead by example on the biosecurity measures recommended by the Forestry Commission (FC) and Defra to minimise the risk of spreading soil-borne tree infections.
