Congratulations: Aaron Takes Inaugural Award
Congratulations to Aaron Adal who has been awarded the inaugural RFS Notts and Lincs Division Forestry Dissertation Prize.

Aaron has graduated with a First Class BSc (Hons) Geography from the University of Nottingham. As part of his course, he took modules featuring environmental modelling, ecology, and climate change.
He said: “I spent some time on field trips in Mexico researching mangroves and exploring the challenges they face. I wanted to look at their future global significance. I also wanted to be able to place a monetary value on their ecology. By doing that I could draw attention to the important need for management and conservation, to help preserve their ecosystems for communities who depend on them for their livelihoods.”
His award-winning dissertation was entitled: ‘Estimating the future monetary value of mangroves globally through regression at a low resolution’.
Aaron is now a Graduate Consultant with Orbis Energy. His work includes environmental impact assessments for offshore energy projects.
He added: “Thank you to Professor Charles Watkins from the University of Nottingham for nominating me on behalf of University of Nottingham. Thank you too to the RFS Notts & Lincs Division Chairman Tom Nelthorpe and Honorary Secretary William Price for the ceremony and prizes!”
The presentation took place at the Athenaeum Club in London. Aaron was presented with his prize and a breadboard commissioned by the Notts and Lincs Divisions and embossed with the RFS logo.
