What the lecturer said: Ben’s enthusiasm and willingness to learn the practical skills of Forestry have been highlighted by his 4 hour daily commute to College on public transport to participate in the sessions. Ben has showen a real aptitude for chainsaw use and a natural ability to climbing trees
What Ben said: I am very happy to receive this award and enjoy the practical parts of Forestry very much. I hope to go on to a level 3 course and continue my learning towards a career in Forestry.
What the college said: The RFS - Silky Fox Handsaw Awards are a great opportunity for staff to commend students who are not necessarily academically minded but show a more natural aptitude to the practical aspects of learning. To gain credit and a prize for this can be a real boost to self-esteem when looking for employment.
