RFS - George Clive Memorial Prize

George Clive was a much admired forester and long-time member of the RFS Herefordshire Division.

Every year a memorial prize named in his honour is awarded to a student from Holme Lacy campus of Herefordshire & Ludlow College to celebrate a commitment to practical skills and sound woodland management.

In 2015 the award was presented to Rob Clow-Whitelegg was also presented with a Gomtaro Silky Handsaw, kindly donated by Silky Fox Handsaws.

Rob has completed the Level 3 Diploma in Countryside Management. In nominating him for the prize, his tutors noted that Rob has consistently produced work to a very high standard, and has invested extra time and effort to get the most from his college experience. He joined other groups on practical sessions, frequently helping to motivate them to greater success, for example in woodland skills and business management. He often worked after classes to ensure projects were completed and has collected a wide range of additional qualifications.

Rob comes to forestry after an earlier career that included eight years teaching theatre design and stage management. He now lives in Herefordshire where he plans to develop his own forestry contracting business.
