Natives
Only about 30 species of broadleaved trees, three conifers and a handful of shrubs had recolonised the British Isles before the ice began to melt, filling up the Channel and cutting Britain off from Continental Europe about 7,500 years ago.
The experts argue over whether one or two species are genuinely natives or not.
