What the lecturer said: Tom has made outstanding progress on his course with us this year, and the course team feel he is fully deserving of this award given his mature attitude, conscientious nature and determination this year. Tom has a keen interest in woodland management and has positively contributed to conservation work at several woodland sites that the College are responsible for locally. He has also discovered new skills in greenwood work sessions and is a true ambassador for his course.
What the college said: It is important that Further Education students are recognised and rewarded for their endeavours in contributing to forestry and woodland management, and the provision of this award motivates, enthuses and benefits our learners in a really positive way. I am pleased that we are once again able to award the prize to one lucky student – Tom Compton - who we all feel will contribute to the sector for years to come.
