What the lecturer said: Jake has been nominated because of his excellent practical skills and abilities. He is always the first to get involved in practical activities.  He has only climbed for a short time but takes part in external climbing competitions, and was selected by the College as part of a team to enter the 3ATC competition.  He actively shared his knowledge and experience of climbing competitions with his team mates to help them compete in the event.  Despite being the youngest in the group, he is mature and has a very sensible attitude and is willing to share his knowledge with others.  Jake was initially on a L2 programme but it soon became clear that he was far more able so was brought up to the L3 course.

What the college said: The RFS Silky Fox Handsaw Awards are an excellent way of recognising a student’s achievements throughout their course.  They are a good marketing tool for the courses, as well as an achievement that the student can include on their CV.
